TalkTalk launches new mobile deals
Thursday 16th August 2012
Commenting on the launch of Talk Talk’s new mobile phone deals Ernest Doku, telecoms expert at uSwitch.com, says: "TalkTalk is well established as a value-for-money broadband and home phone provider, so its latest offering – budget smartphones – is a logical next step.
"Transparent pricing and double the amount of data for anyone that purchases their contract online will get the thumbs up from mobile customers, but there is a catch - no flexibility on contract length. It's 24 months or nothing.
"On a positive note, there are five handsets to choose from, including UK bestseller the Samsung Galaxy S III, so customers are by no means limited to budget devices.
"A fiver a month will buy a Samsung Galaxy Y, which is a decent entry-level smartphone, with 100 minutes, 250 texts and 100MB of data if you buy over the phone, or 200MB if you buy online. Not a bad deal for light users who don't mind being tied in to a two-year contract. And although those looking for a better phone or more minutes, texts or data will have to shell out more, the deals are still extremely competitive.
“This also reflects a move towards providers bundling even more products, and rewarding customers for doing so, and follows the launch of new mobile deals for Virgin Media customers in June. Customers looking to bundle home phone, broadband and a mobile phone can benefit from the best deals, and this offering from TalkTalk offers particularly good value.”
